The statistical data for the year shows that the levels of noise at Lazenby remain at an all time low.  There were a number of short vent? incidents during December but evidence from the time history traces suggests the one event, starting on the 5th December at 00:15 continued throughout the night.

There have been some problems with the web site throughout the month due to relocation of the service provider.  The problems have now been resolved but incident data will be out of date until new incidents arise.

COMMENTS 2/12/18

Whilst the noise distirbution curves for the noise performance over the year remain at very low levels there have been several incident alerts received during November at least 4 or 5 seeming to be the high pitched scream from vent noise.

Standard night time data was not recorded for several days at the start of the recording period (reason unknown) but detailed time history data is avaiable for the whole period if required.

There were no incidents of note during the month except for extensive helicopter activity on the night commencing the 29th October.  Noise distribution curves remain low.

COMMENTS 7/10/18

There were no incidents alerted by the Lazenby monitor that were not due to vehicle or weather noise.  However there was a noise increase commencing just before 03:00 hours on the 5th October.  The increase of 7 or 8 dB took place gradually over a period of several minutes which was not fast enough to trigger a monitor response.  The increase in level appeared to persist over the following 2 evenings and gradually subsided on7th October from 02:15 on.

Otherwise the distribution curves continue to confirm the ongoing low environmental noise impact at Lazenby.

COMMENTS 2/9/18

Low background noise levels during August returned the cumulative distribution curves to equal the lowest ever recorded levels.

Apart from vehicle noise there were 3 incidents worthy of mention.  There was an unusual drone at 02:09 on the 6th Aug with some dog barking. Drone may possibly have been a vehicle.  At 00:02 on the 7th Aug there appeared to be some venting for approximately 30 mins and there was also evidence of a flare or vent at 01:30 on 2nd Sept.  Audio recordings can be listened to on the monitor web page.

The noise monitor was out of action for 11 days in July for calibration purposes.  Whilst noise levels remain low there were some short incidents during the night time monitoring periods.

COMMENTS 1/7/18

Noise levels at Lazenby remained low throughout June and there were no incidents worthy of mention.

COMMENTS 4/6/18

Lazenby noise levels slightly above minimum.  The significant event seen on the traces from 23:05 on 7/5/18 is helicopter noise, otherwise, 2 short events were picked up which sound like sudden venting.  These events were on the 9th and 17th May and can be listened to on the Web Site.

COMMENTS 6/5/18

Overall levels show an insignificant increase in April.  A short unidentified vent noise occurred on the 16th April otherwise most audio events involved geese, vehicles or sirens.  There appeared to be a gradual noise increase starting on the 17th April at 02:15 peaking at 02:37 and then tapering off over the following few hours.

COMMENTS 1/4/18

There was a significant event on 7/3/18 at approximately 00:15 lasting for about 30 minutes.  Sounds like high pressure venting.  Change to BST appears to have reset the sound level meter causing a loss of data for the previous 10 days.  There was also a short horn sound on the 31/3/18 at 23:43.

There has been no significant change in the overall sound levels at Lazenby.

COMMENTS 5/3/18

There was a significant noise event starting on 20/2/18 at 02:45 hours which continued throughout the monitoring period.  Noise sounds like venting.  In addition there were the usual short events but which now include geese, otherwise general noise environment remains unchamged.

Adverse weather conditions had a significant impact on the noise data acquired during January and there is too little data for any apparent trends to be meaningful.  There were a few short noise incidents recorded and audio recordings of the most interesting are available on the web site.  Unfortunately an IT problem resulted in the loss of data in the final week up to the 4th February.
